Street markets
A street market in Palermo is a cacophony of sights and sounds. From a colourful assortment of fruits, vegetables, fish & meats to vendors competing with one another for your attention. The ambience is punctuated by coloured tarpaulins suspended as "tents" to protect the wares from the elements. Sicily's outdoor market tradition dates from the 9th century Saracen rule of the island.
